Post surgery frustrations
Ah, day 5 post-surgery – or as I like to call it, the "let-me-go-home-already" stage. Don't get me wrong, I'm beyond grateful that the surgery went smoothly and my bowel decided to behave itself. But let's face it, hospital life wasn't exactly on my bucket list.
Before this whole hiccup, I never really gave much thought to the post-op party. I mean, I figured I'd breeze through the surgery, have a few days of R&R, and then boom – back to my regularly scheduled programming. But oh, how wrong I was!
Picture this: I wake up in the recovery room feeling like I got hit by a truckload of bricks. Next thing I know, I'm on a ward with my entire family camped out, and I didn't want them going anywhere.
The next morning? Slightly better. But still feeling like I went 10 rounds with a bulldozer. Turns out, the pain from surgery isn't exactly a walk in the park – especially when the wound is right in the middle of your belly. One wrong move and instant regret.
Fast forward a few days, and I've graduated to showering, washing my hair (a victory in itself), and wearing my own clothes for a touch of homey comfort. Oh, and let's not forget the thrilling walks – with an entourage of nurses and my mum, of course. But hey, no marathons just yet – we're talking a solid 7-minute round trip here.
And don't even get me started on reminiscing about my pre-surgery self – the one who used to frolic with the dog, sprint up stairs like it was an Olympic event, and dive into bed like a champ. Ah, those were the days!
So yeah, day 5 might have its frustrations, its pains, and its "seriously, can I just go home already?" moments. But hey, every step forward – even the wobbly ones – is a victory in my book. Here's to hoping I'll be back on my feet in no time. Watch out, world – this surgery survivor's just getting warmed up! 🏃♀️
